We will start with a whirlwind overview of Oxford as the central player in 1,000 years of British history, and giving guests an understanding of how the sprawling institution operates before embarking on the tour. Navigating down the windy alleyways we will get an insiders take on the little known viewing angles that bring across the drama of the world famous architecture in this city. With striking spires and imposing buildings, we will cover how these influenced Tolkien, C S Lewis, along with Alice's Adventures in Wonderland. We will enter one of the oldest Colleges at Oxford, renowned for its beautiful gardens, before heading into one of the most famous Library's in the world - responsible for over 13 million books. Capping this off we will cover a Harry Potter film site, along with why the most powerful religious figure England has ever seen, was burnt alive in the centre of Oxford, on what is now such a nondescript part of road you could easily miss it. Please note: Colleges and the Library can shut without notice and currently they are available as of August 2021. If this changes on the day we will of course incorporate them - if we are not able to offer any access, we will offer up the option of a full refund.

Hidden gems include Tolkein's Dark Tower, the twin Towers of Mordor and Oxford's Narnia land featuring the lamp, Mr Tumnus and Aslan which inspired CS Lewis. Guides are well versed in the history of Oxford from the founding of the city over 1000 years ago to the beginnings of the University in the 13th century, through the industrial revolution to the present day.
Other things to note During off season I'm happy to adapt timing of tours, please do enquire! Travel around Oxford can get a bit congested so please don't hesitate to text or call me if you have any problems and I will do my best to adapt when possible. There are cobbled streets on the tour.

The Inklings Oxford Writers Tour
We will introduce the lives of CS Lewis, JRR Tolkien & the other Inklings who were fascinated like I am with questions about the power of myth, story making & man's quest to understand his place in the universe. Wherever open, we visit Exeter college where JRR Tolkien studied & Magdalen college where CS Lewis taught. These are probably the most beautiful of the university colleges. Magdalen has a deer park & buildings dating back to 1400. Exeter dating to 1314, features lots in Inspector Morse tv show. It has an exquisite chapel. We look at what inspired CS Lewis's conversion & we also introduce the lives of both men plus their friendship with each other & other members of the Inklings writers group who famously met at the Eagle and Child pub to discuss their writing. Children are welcome but this tour is not aimed at the interests or attention span of children. Please note that you can either book this as a private group tour at either 10am or 11.45 or at 3pm with a minimum sale of £200. Alternatively, you can book this tour for 11.45 start time only, as a shared public tour but we require minimum 3 persons at £50 per person, to run the shared public tour. So if you are less than 3 persons, please message me here before booking or book private group Entry fees worth up to £10 per person to Magdalen college always included and entry £3 to Exeter college, as and when open.
NOTICE: This tour starts at 12.45 and not at 12.30 but the airbnb scheduling system has no option to state 12.45! The Divinity school film site is closed on some dates but on any such dates, we simply swap it for entry to New college film site. This tour goes into great detail about the making of Harry Potter in Oxford, including film site/s visits. It also highlights JK Rowling's ideas plus it mentions Oxford history plus Oxford's many other famous literary connections. The tours run in English. However, together with my bilingual colleagues, we can also offer private group tours only in foreign languages with adequate advance notice. If -after you book- we learn of closures affecting the tour, I will email you but please can you also share your phone number and email address after booking, so that I can update you of any such notices.

We cannot guarantee which colleges will be open ahead of time on any specific date but typically we see inside two venues during the tour. This tour introduces student life at Oxford, college traditions, the history of the university and also major events in Oxford's history. It's primarily intended to be booked as a private group tour but I will offer a varied schedule for shared public tours to book too, depending on the seasonal demand. Tour duration is from 90-120 minutes.

In this fun introductory class you will get familiar with the potters wheel and learn what it is like to have a go at throwing. On arrival at our Studio, you’ll be warmly welcomed as you join the rest of your group. The workshop begins with a full demonstration of the pot throwing process, given by one of our expert potters. You will then be individually assigned a potter’s wheel for the duration of the workshop and its your turn to get hands-on and have fun practising your pottery skills! An experienced tutor will be on hand throughout offering practical tips and guidance. You will learn the 5 basic steps in making a pot, from centering, opening out and pulling up the walls of your pots, using specialist tools. You may create as many pots as you wish on the session, using an unlimited supply of clay. As a beginner, your pots tend to be super wobbly and often collapse but it’s all part of the fun and the normal learning curve of a potter! This is a make and take class, so at the end of the workshop you can chose your best piece to take away on the day free of charge (additional pots charged at £3). Pots can be left to airdry at home and painted if you wish.

Walk Alpacas around a Cotswold Manor Estate
You will meet our lovely alpacas (Frodo, Gandulf, Chewy, Twiglet, Eeyore, Pippin, Whisky, Merry, Legolas and Gimli). We will explain the characteristics of these lovely animals and teach you how to handle them. You will feed and walk the alpacas around our 16th century Manor Estate. The walk is more of a gentle stroll, as we appreciate both the beautiful gardens and many historic features of the Estate; our medieval stocks, a Tudor barn and 5 acres of amazing gardens, a lake and a large orchard. At the end of the experience you will have the opportunity to spend some free time interacting with the alpacas up close, off the lead. We end with a refreshing glass of home-made apple juice.
